Bio

Lance DeMuth was licensed to practice massage in Oregon in the spring of 2014 and is a graduate of East West College of the Healing Arts. He offers holistic and integrative therapeutic problem solving massage based primarily in two lineages of Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian massage.) The main influence on his bodywork style is his most recent Lomi Lomi teacher teacher Barbara Helynn Heard (who was a long term student of Dr. Maka’ala Yates, who trained with Auntie Margaret Kalehuamakaneoelu’ulu’uonapali Ahi’ula Keali’I Machado.) He’s also influenced by his first Lomi Lomi teacher Shantika Bernard (who taught within the lineage of Abraham Kawaii and who studied with several other native Hawaiian teachers), and also incorporates techniques from western Swedish and Deep Tissue styles, Thai massage, META (Mindful Experiential Therapeutic Approaches) Integrated Bodywork, and his extensive background in energy and spiritwork. He’s been studying and practicing the latter continuously since he was a teenager with a number of different teachers, and has cultivated presence and precision through training in meditation, ritual, and other spiritual disciplines. He brings a lifetime of knowledge and passion about body movement that he’s explored through Isshinryu karate, yoga, tai chi, modern dance, and bodybuilding into his practice. He’s a trained practitioner of META Integrated Bodywork, and a Certified Kripalu Yoga teacher.

I’ve had a life long interest in the Healing Arts and I bring great love and passion to my work. The body, body movement, and the ways all parts of our being interact with and express through our bodies is endlessly fascinating to me. In all of my offerings I aim to create a space where my clients can feel more deeply relaxed, present, and at home in their bodies and an increased connection with themselves and their environment.

I enjoy working with clients who are movement practitioners or athletes, contemplative or spiritual practitioners, and with anyone who wants to feel more relaxed and deeply present within their body. I like working with LBGTQ individuals and other people who are doing or wanting those things within the context of marginalization or systemic oppression.

I consider creating venues for self knowledge and a re-enchanted experience of our bodies and world to be a central part of my life’s work.
